We focus on understanding how specific conditions of the environment such as inanition, specific nutrients, and the microbiota composition affect nervous system phenotype and trigger protective behaviors.

To answer our questions we use genomics, epigenomics and systems biology strategies in bacteria, invertebrate and mammalian models.

Specifically we investigate:

  1. I. The identity of small RNA molecules capable of triggering transgenerational survival strategies and their mechanism to promote stable epigenetic changes.
  2. II. The main epigenetic changes that accompany and determine the transcriptional changes during neurodegeneration and neuronal maturation process.
